Backdrop : Vegetable production in our state is significantly influenced by seasonality and weather conditions. The extent of deficiency in production and availability cause considerable fluctuations in the prices and quality of vegetables. The major challenge for the modern technology is to make vegetable cultivation economically competitive. The main purpose of precision farming of vegetable production is to create a favourable microclimate for the sustained growth of plants so as to realise its maximum potential even in adverse climatic conditions. Protected structures besides modifying microclimate also provide protection against biotic and abiotic stress. To achieve the objectives of precision farming a project was conceived to demonstrate and make available international modern vegetable cultivation under protected structure and a centre of excellence for vegetables is being established in Jumerdhepa in Sepahijala District. With this context, the aim of this mission focussed with the following objectives:

  • To supply healthy and disease free vegetable seedlings to farmers on demand throughout the year.
  • Establishing intensive crop cultivation sites by demonstrating the latest agricultural techniques.
  • To demonstrate production of high quality vegetable aimed for both national and international market year round.
  • To achieve optimum productivity and profitability per unit area.
  • To lead the farmers with technology.
  • To increase contribution to state GDP.
  • Productive employment generation.
